There is some exciting news for book-lovers in, as the prospect of a new Book Festival moves a step nearer. The library service, supported by local author Barry Hutchison, are putting plans together for a new festival, which will incorporate books, art and music. They are on the lookout for volunteers to help with the organisation of the event, and are holding a meeting on Monday 9th December at 6.30pm in Fort William Library, to discuss ideas and develop plans.

As a member of the Three Lochs Book and Arts Festival committee I would like to point out that Lochaber already has a book and arts festival – which has been very successful and continues to be so (our next one is September 2014 at the Sunart Centre). It is great that another book event is planned – but don’t forget what we already have!
Justine,
My apologies, how could I possibly forget the Three Lochs Book and Arts Festival Committee. Slapped wrist accepted!
Strontian is a bit remote for many Lochaber residents. Public transport is thin on the ground and Corran Ferry fares are prohibitive .
