I’VE just enjoyed a delightful day with the youngsters of Kinlochleven Primary School.
A few weeks ago two of the children wrote to me with a copy of a cracking little walking guide-book the school has produced called ‘Don’t Forget Your Wellies’, and an invitation to join them on one of their weekly Friday walks in and around Kinlochleven.
It was an invitation I couldn’t resist so I went through today and met up with the youngsters and their teacher, Fiona McSorland.
Fiona moved to Lochaber about five years ago from Lanarkshire where her school had been enjoying a successful walks programme. She brought the idea to Kinlochleven with her and last year, looking at ways the children could further their experience of walking the trails and footpaths around the village someone came up with the idea of producing a walking guide.
