Planning applications in South Lochaber (week-ending 29th August 2014)

Construction PlansThese are the planning applications received by the Highland Council for the South Lochaber area this week. Please note no decisions have been made on these applications, their acceptance begins the period of consultation before planning officers make a recommendation.

14/03079/FUL – Glen Lurach, Brecklet Road, Ballachulish, PH49 4JG 

Conversion of existing garage to Artist Studio

14/03151/FUL – The Volunteer Arms, 49 High Street, Fort William, PH33 6DH 

Section 42 condition to modify condition 1 of planning permission 12/02693/FUL to extend the hours of operation of the outdoor seating area

14/03156/LBC – Blackrock Cottage, Kingshouse, Glencoe, Ballachulish, PH49 4HZ

Upgrade to the existing coal shed. The ceiling will be insulated, a new floor laid, the walls will be lime plastered and a new conservation rooflight added on the rear roof. A shower room and drying room will be formed with timber partitions.

You have an opportunity to comment on any application, by following the links above. When doing so you are encouraged to make it clear whether you wish to object to, support or just make general comments regarding the proposals. Planning officers will consider all comments before reaching a final decision. However, they can only consider comments on matters which relate to the land-use of the site.  These are called “Material Planning Considerations” and include:

  • the appearance of the proposal in terms of design/scale
  • siting and materials
  • traffic, parking or access issues
  • residential amenity (noise, overshadowing public rooms, privacy)
  • drainage and infrastructure
  • impact on the natural or built environment.
