Residents in North Ballachulish and Onich have been calling for a reduced speed limit on the A82 through Nether Lochaber for some time. It’s a cause that local councillors have highlighted to Transport Scotland on many occasions. At long last, it looks as though a reduced 50mph will be introduced from the Ballachulish Bridge roundabout through to the Onich Hotel. Unfortunately, it’s not the lower limit of 40mph, which many people wanted, to link up with the existing zone through Onich itself, but this proposed limit will make a difference. It will make it much easier for motorists to join the A82 from the Kinlochleven road, Old Ferry Road and Old Town. The scheme needs to go through a legal process, before Scottish Minsters make the final decision.
